People are placing bets on which five escaped New Orleans prisoners will be caught last

Football, horse racing, boxing – just some of the popular sports millions place bets on every week.

But convict catching? That’s a new one on us.

In a premise straight out of a dystopian film, people are gambling on who the last escaped prisoner caught will be after 10 inmates busted out of a New Orleans jail last week.

Five who fled the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility through a hole in the toilet wall on Friday have already been caught.

Now people are taking to social media to offer odds on who will be the last remaining out of the five still standing.

Prisoners who are still on the run.

The post caused a buzz on Reddit, with user IllustriousAnt485 posting: ‘Lenton has that look in his eye where he is waiting for someone to act a certain way so he can change his mannerisms.

‘He is a chameleon who stands for nothing and says whatever he thinks people want to hear.

‘He will find a way to survive and get away. It’s in his blood.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CbfDjvBPf/ Troopers worked through the night with our local, state and federal partners to continue the search for the seven escaped inmates who remain at large. The search began yesterday morning after ten inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish Jail. Troopers quickly apprehended the first escapee, and with continued collaboration among law enforcement agencies, two more were taken into custody later in the day. Following their apprehension, LSP Air Support coordinated with LSP SWAT to safely transport the three individuals to a secure state correctional facility outside the area. During the transfer, one of the inmates exhibited hostile behavior, requiring Troopers to use a spit hood to ensure their safety. The search remains active with numerous local, state, and federal agencies working together around the clock to locate and apprehend the remaining individuals. Tips to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans and FBI - New Orleans have played a key role in locating the escaped inmates. We encourage the public to continue to share any information, no matter how small it may seem.

‘Derrick has intelligence in his eyes but also has pride. His pride will be his downfall.

‘The others are straight up cornballs who will be caught or go out with a bang. My money is on Lenton.’

III-Philosopher-9243 added: ‘My fiance and I had done this between ourselves. I got Lenton lasting til the end, he’s got Leo.’
