The Mystery Man Whispers Not-So-Sweet Somethings in Martin’s Ear — Plus, Derek Pops the Question

Martin is hanging at Vernon with the country club. Anita’s hubby is proudly talking about how well things are going for The Articulettes. Martin, however, is distracted — and, as it happens, being watched by the waiter. Martin later admits to his granddad that his nightmares — or are they hallucinations — are getting so much worse. “I don’t know what’s going to fix me or if anything can,” he admits, going on to say he’s even talked to mom Nicole about them. This does not go over well with Vernon, to say the least. “Do you have any idea what you’ve done?”

Martin insists the only way to keep everyone safe is if his grandson confides only in him. He’ll do whatever he can to help, but the only way to keep everyone safe is to stay silent.”We’ve done the impossible,” says Vernon, meaning they’ve kept this silent. But Martin fears things might get worse, not noticing that the man who’s been  Vernon lights up when Anita calls, stepping away to take the call. But once he does, the mystery man approaches Martin and whispers “What color’s your money?” — the same thing the troubled young man’s been hearing during his nightmares!

Andre Slips Up

Kat and Chelsea are hanging out in Dani’s guesthouse/glam studio, which Tomas is helping them move into. Kat gets playfully jealous as both Dani and Chelsea flirt with her beau, with her aunt even offering him a modeling job. After he exits, Dani wants assurances that he is worth of “unicorn” Kat.

Later, Dani is thrilled when Chelsea and Kat admit they wanted to move into the guesthouse so that they would be “less than 100 feet away from greatness.” The three of them then set out to redecorate the space (which they manage to do in record time). Chelsea later calls Madison at the hospital for some very sexy talk that clues an eavesdropping Kat in on their relationship. As the girls are gossiping, Andre barges in, shouting, “Dani, show yourself woman!” Although he tries to cover, Kat and Chelsea quickly realize — especially after he goes out of his way to point out he’s not related to anyone in the Dupres clan — that he and Dani are hooking up. “Stranger things have happened,” shrugs Chelsea.

The End of Dashley?

Ashley tells Andre that she’s worried about Derek having asked her out to dinner. She’s convinced Derek is going to dump her and wants to do it in public so she can’t make a scene. At the same time, Derek is confiding in Naomi, who asks if he’s sure he wants to go through with his plan for the evening.

When Ashley asks what Andre would do in Derek’s situation, he says “I’d never let you go” before quickly recovering and saying “I’d never let her go.” Ashley goes home to get glammed up, wanting to make sure she “looks really good when I walk away.” When the two of them get together at Uptown, each looking their best, she’s fully prepared to be dumped. Instead, Derek says that she makes him a better man and asks for her hand in marriage!

Dani Crashes Bill and Hayley’s Party

Proving to be the worst patient ever, Bill is anxious to be released from the hospital. He banters with Madison, but Hayley says she has a plan to keep him in line with his physical therapy demands. Bill’s skeptical, but it turns out his wife’s plan involves dim lights and a slideshow of their greatest hits… including an ultrasound of the baby and faked photos of their future family. The point of those flash-forwards? She wants him to take care of himself and stick around to always be in their lives. “Everything you’ve just seen and more is on the other side of this bumpy road,” she says… then shows exactly what she means by “more” with a photo of her in lingerie!

Dani arrives at the hospital and crosses paths with Tomas. She asks if he’s making Kat happy, to which the young lawyer responds that he thinks her niece is very special and that he “cares about her” very much. She warns that if he hurts Kat, he’ll want to seek employment in another hemisphere.

Dani then barges into Bill’s hospital, turns on the lights and is surprised to find her ex and his current wife canoodling under a blanket. She eventually offers to leave and catch Bill up on news about their children later, but he wants to hear about them. As the picture above indicates, Hayley was… less interested.

Next time on Beyond the Gates, brace yourselves, because Martin is about to have one heck of a flashback!
